but I kept telling myself, not now. Have you ever kept getting a prompting that you did not listen to? Today I was driving to a store to buy some groceries. Get air in your tire Kristina! Like right now, I am busy and focused. Yes, right now!
I decided to run my errands first, instead of getting air. I finished, put my cart back and walked over to Tire Service area. A gentleman greeted me and asked me if I needed help. I asked him if I could get some air for my tire. However, I added, if you guys are too busy I can get some air another time. His reply was, “Oh no, we can absolutely help you right now, pull your car up and we will get you on your way.” Really??!!
I pull up my car to exactly where the gentleman told me to park it. A different man comes out and asks if I needed air. My reply was yes, Sir! The man mentioned my tires looked good. And I thought to myself, I agree, see I did not need air after all. Then as he approached my last tire he said, “Oh wow, the air machine would prove both of us wrong.” As the man continued to kneel, he looked up at me and said, You actually needed air in all 4 tires.
I looked at him in confusion, so I actually needed air. Yes, he said. I then asked him if he believed in God, his reply was no. I said, “May I share a quick story with you?” “Ummmm, sure, I guess”, he replied. I told him, God kept prompting me to get air in my tires, over and over again. And I felt like I was too busy, I have a husband for this and my tires look awesome. I made more excuses to ignore Him than to believe and trust Him.
Do you ever feel God is calling you to do something so minor we ignore His prompting? I did, even though it was for an hour, I almost missed the opportunity to share how amazing God is to an unbeliever and get some much needed air…time. The minimal amount of time we spent together was meaningful. I didn’t shove the gospel down his throat or make him feel uncomfortable. In fact, I gently told him in 3 sentences how awesome God is.
Listen, do not miss another opportunity to listen to Him, He loves us so much. And what if God wanted to see if I was listening with this small prompting, so He could see if I could be ready for something bigger, who knows. Only He does, Jesus wants the absolute best for us…Himself.
